About The Position

The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of History Adjunct Instructor for the 2026-2027 academic year. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching and to assist in further development of the UNT Dallas History program. Requirements

  • Master's degree in History with at least 18 graduate hours in History.
  • Outstanding experience in teaching core-curriculum U.S. History, Texas History, and World Civilization courses (both face-to-face and online).
  • Strong teaching skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in History with significant experience in higher education.
  • Successful experience teaching adults in a post-secondary institution.
  • Excellent communication skills in multicultural settings.

Responsibilities

  • Plan classes and implement and evaluate teaching/learning objectives and student learning outcomes.
  • Undertake the divisional and professional responsibilities of a part-time faculty member, including office hours.
  • Provide instruction in a full range of undergraduate History courses within UNT Dallas’s History major, including core-curriculum U.S. History (2610-U.S. History to 1865, and 2620-U.S. History since 1865), Texas History Survey (2305), and World Civilization courses (1050-World Civilization I, 1060-World Civilization II), and there may be an opportunity to teach upper-level courses.
  • Use texts and meet certain content parameters set by the Department of History.
  • Include in their courses certain student assessment measures determined by the department, and compile data on those assessment criteria.
