About The Position
The Histology Technician processes tissues and fluids submitted to the Pathology service and prepares and stains tissue slides. The technician ensures slides are available promptly for Pathologist review and interpretation. USC Verdugo Hills Hospital is part of Keck Medicine of USC and is a community hospital in the Foothills area of Los Angeles. It offers personalized care, emergency services, specialized care, research, and clinical trials.
Requirements
- One year of experience in an acute care facility setting.
- Three years of clinical training in an approved Histology Training Program.
- Prior experience with specialized stains, cutting, embedding, computer use, quality control, QC evaluation, inventory control, preventative maintenance, and quality improvement.
Nice To Haves
- An AA or AS degree in a related field is preferred but not required.
- Valid Histology ASCP Certification is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Process all tissues and fluids submitted to the Pathology service.
- Prepare and stain tissue slides.
- Ensure slides are available in a timely manner for Pathologist review and interpretation.
