About The Position

This role involves performing a variety of histology laboratory duties, including tissue processing, embedding, and microtomy. The technician will also be involved with special histochemical stains, cytology preparations, and immunohistochemistry. Collaboration, communication, and compliance with regulatory requirements are key aspects of this position. The role may also involve equipment maintenance and policy development.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • For Tech II: At least 0-2 years of work experience in a related job discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • For Tech III: At least 4+ years of work experience in a related job discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Tissue processing, embedding, microtomy (paraffin and frozen sections).
  • Advanced understanding of special histochemical stains and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced knowledge of identification of tissue types, artifacts, etc.
  • Advanced experience with Cytology preparations and staining.
  • Experience with Immunohistochemistry and other advanced staining.
  • Work collaboratively/cooperatively with others to achieve goals.

  • Design and/or implement programs, policies, and/or procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Track laws and regulations that might affect policies and procedures.
  • May prepare compliance reports and communicate results as necessary.
  • Assist with maintenance of various pieces of equipment.
  • Help maintain/order inventory.
  • Keep work environment well-organized.
  • May troubleshoot and/or correct erroneous results or problems with equipment.
  • May provide appropriate safety/quality monitoring checks and document as assigned.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance, and/or revision of policies, procedures, and/or manuals.
