About The Position

The Histology Supervisor performs and oversees histology operations including embedding, microtomy, staining, and workflow coordination. Ensures high-quality slide production, adherence to regulatory standards, and supports laboratory efficiency and team performance. Provides leadership, training, and operational oversight within the histology section while maintaining hands-on technical competency.

Requirements

High school diploma or GE
5+ years of histology experience
HTL(ASCP) or HT (ASCP) - American Society for Clinical Pathology
Proven solid attention to detail and organizational skills
Proven solid manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to work in a high-volume environment
Proven solid leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Proven ability to work in high-volume environment and maintain turnaround times

Nice To Haves

Completion of formal histology training program or equivalent on-the-job training
Supervisory experience
QIHC (ASCP)
Familiarity with medical terminology and LIS systems (e.g., Epic Beaker)

Responsibilities

Oversee daily histology operations. Manage staffing, scheduling, and performance. Leads workflow optimization and improvement
Performs embedding, microtomy, routine H&E staining, and slide preparation ensuring high-quality sections for diagnosis. Performs special stains and immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures as directed
Maintains QC documentation, reagent preparation, and ensures specimen integrity and compliance with standards. Ensuring compliance and quality metrics maintained
Maintains equipment, workstations, and ensures proper laboratory safety and regulatory compliance. Perform routine cleaning
Support workflow coverage, cross-train, and assist in other lab areas as needed
