The Histology Technician performs all duties of histology including embedding, microtomy, staining, cover slipping, and case management of daily slides. This role is responsible for preparing high-quality tissue sections for diagnostic evaluation by Pathologists. Performs routine and advanced histology techniques including special stains and immunohistochemistry (IHC) as directed while supporting laboratory workflow, quality, and efficiency. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
1+ year of histology laboratory experience
Demonstrated competency in embedding and microtomy
Proven solid attention to detail and organizational skills
Proven solid manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to work in a high-volume environment
Proven ability to work in high-volume environment and maintain turnaround times

Nice To Haves

Completion of formal histology training program or equivalent on-the-job training
Experience with special stains and immunohistochemistry
HT (ASCP) certification preferred or eligible within one year of hire
Familiarity with medical terminology and LIS systems (e.g., Epic Beaker)

Responsibilities

Performs all duties of histology including embedding, microtomy, staining, cover slipping, and case management of daily slides.
Prepares high-quality tissue sections for diagnostic evaluation by Pathologists.
