The Histology Technician performs all duties of histology including embedding, microtomy, staining, cover slipping, and case management of daily slides. This role is responsible for preparing high-quality tissue sections for diagnostic evaluation by Pathologists. Performs routine and advanced histology techniques including special stains and immunohistochemistry (IHC) as directed while supporting laboratory workflow, quality, and efficiency. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ year of histology laboratory experience
  • Demonstrated competency in embedding and microtomy
  • Proven solid attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proven solid manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to work in a high-volume environment
  • Proven ability to work in high-volume environment and maintain turnaround times

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of formal histology training program or equivalent on-the-job training
  • Experience with special stains and immunohistochemistry
  • HT (ASCP) certification preferred or eligible within one year of hire
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and LIS systems (e.g., Epic Beaker)

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties of histology including embedding, microtomy, staining, cover slipping, and case management of daily slides.
