About The Position

The HIM Supervisor oversees the operations of the Health Information Management department, ensuring patient health information is accurate, accessible, and secure. The role includes managing staff, implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The supervisor also prepares reports and presentations for management about departmental performance and compliance metrics.

Requirements

Five years of experience in health information management.

Nice To Haves

RHIA or RHIT certification.
Two years of supervisory experience.
One year of previous experience with an imaging system.

Responsibilities

Supervise daily HIM department operations, including vital records, documentation, and record management.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health information regulations.
Oversee the HIS process to ensure medical records are accurate and completed on time.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve the quality and efficiency of health information management.
Train and mentor HIS staff, providing ongoing support and professional development.
Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to resolve health information issues.
Conduct regular medical record audits for quality assurance and compliance.
Manage release-of-information processes while maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to legal standards.
Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes affecting health information management.
Prepare reports and presentations for management on departmental performance and compliance metrics.
