About The Position
This is a Full Time position with a Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm shift. The HIM Tech will pick up inpatient/outpatient/emergency department encounters, and prep, scan, upload, and index the encounters. The role also involves conducting concurrent reviews of inpatient records on the nursing wings, analyzing these records, and tagging deficiencies for verbal orders and other documentation as required by Medical Staff Bylaws.

Responsibilities
- Pick up inpatient/outpatient/emergency department encounters and enter them into the computer chart locator.
- Assemble charts in the established chart order, incorporating loose sheets and dictation, and verifying patient name and admission date on each page.
- Analyze records on nursing wings, tag deficiencies, and remove tags for quantitative deficiencies or completed concurrent reviews. Enter deficiencies into the deficiency tracker, print deficiency sheets, and forward records for completion.
- Chart transcribed reports to nursing wings and tag them for signatures.
- Scan Emergency Room Department Records regularly and review encounters for misfiles.
- Send records to storage according to Health Information Services policy for retention and destruction.
- Scan physician queries into iDoc for requests for additional information.
- Independently recognize and perform duties without direct assignment.
- Establish priorities, organize work and time to meet the Health Information Services workflow plan and operation.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
