About The Position

Bone and Joint is seeking a detail-oriented HIM Records Requestor Specialist to join their team. This role involves acting as a detective to hunt down past medical information on patients. Bone and Joint is a comprehensive healthcare organization with multiple locations in Central Wisconsin, focused on being the best place for patients, employees, and physicians. The HIM Specialist/Records Requestor will be responsible for requesting records from various sources for upcoming patient visits, collaborating with team members to ensure all records are obtained for all locations, and assisting internal clinical staff with special requests and short-notice appointments. Duties also include scanning and indexing protected health information into the EHR system. The role involves regular one-on-one meetings with a supervisor and monthly team huddles. A critical responsibility is adhering to HIPAA state and federal regulations. Comprehensive training will be provided.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver's License
• Medical Terminology
• Computer Skills (Microsoft Office)
• Ability to multi-task
• Customer Service Skills
• High level attention to detail and accuracy

Responsibilities

• Requesting records from necessary sources and locations for upcoming patient visits.
• Working closely with team members to ensure all records are obtained for visits at all locations.
• Working with internal clinical staff members for any special requests and short notice add-on appointments.
• Scanning and indexing protected health information into the EHR system.
• Abiding by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) state and federal regulations.
