Health Information Management (HIM)/Medical Records Clerk Opportunity West Oaks Hospital has provided psychiatric care to the Houston area and surrounding communities for over four decades. Our 176-bed acute care facility is fully accredited and included a 16-bed residential treatment center for adult chemical dependency. We offer a broad range of behavioral health programs for children, adolescents and adults. Treatment is offered at multiple levels of care including inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist you and answer your questions about treatment options and insurance coverage. Visit us online at: https://westoakshospital.com/ West Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Health Information Management (HIM) Clerk to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals. Ensures medical records are properly created and stored and that they are easily accessible to medical professionals as needed for ongoing care and billing. The Health Information Management Clerk is responsible for maintaining, organizing and protecting patient medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies. The role supports clinical and administrative staff by accurately filing, scanning, indexing, retrieving and releasing medical records, monitoring documentation for completeness and assisting with record requests. The HIM Clerk also enters data into electronic health record (EHR) systems, responds to internal and external requests for health information, and helps ensure the accuracy, confidentiality and integrity of patient records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of clerical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience in a HIMS department.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, organize and secure patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and facility policies.
  • Process requests for medical records from patients, physicians, attorneys, insurance companies and other authorized entities after verifying proper authorization.
  • Support chart analysis and quality assurance activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the HIM Director
