By joining our Kentucky Highways Department District-10 in West Liberty Section in Menifee County as a Highway Technician Assistant I, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of classroom and in-field trainings to allow for continued education to become specialized in road and construction maintenance and operations.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification.
  • Within 12 months of employment in this job classification, employees in this classification must furnish the agency's appointing authority with documentation that he or she holds a valid Class B commercial driver's license.
  • Within one year of employment in this job classification, the employee must complete First Aid and Snow and Ice Training and must possess Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10 Certifications or equivalent.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

  • Experience in equipment operation for road maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Hauling materials to and from job sites.
  • Operating dump trucks with snowplow and salt spreader to work in the winter months.
  • Operate a tractor-type mowing machine, assist in brush cutting, and use chemical sprayers.
  • Learn and assist with basic surveying activities on construction projects.
  • Flag for operations requiring traffic control.
