About The Position

This position serves the public by working to make the roads in Ohio safer. The selected candidate will be placed in the classification in which they meet minimum qualifications. The role involves performing highway maintenance activities, including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing. Additionally, the position requires participation in snow and ice operations. The job is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards and requires new hires to serve a one (1) year probationary period. The final candidate must undergo a criminal background check and urinalysis to test for illegal drug use. This position is subject to federal testing regulations and requires registration in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse. Sponsorship for an employment visa is not available.

Requirements

  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary (for HMW1)
  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment (for HT1)
  • Must obtain Class B Commercial Drivers License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer
  • Attend training to obtain CDL licensure; if not already a licensed CDL holder
  • Perform highway maintenance activities; including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing
  • Perform snow & ice operations
