About The Position

The selected candidate will be placed in the classification in which they meet minimum qualifications. The role involves serving the public by working to make Ohio roads safer. Responsibilities include performing highway maintenance activities such as flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing, as well as performing snow and ice operations. Training will be provided to obtain CDL licensure if not already a licensed CDL holder.

Requirements

  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
  • Must obtain Class B Commercial Drivers License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions.
  • Ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary.
  • 3 months training or 3 months experience in operation of basic equipment.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
  • Applicant must have valid Commercial Driver’s License at the appropriate level pursuant to approved position description on file to operate motorized equipment of size & type regulated by section 4506 of Ohio Revised Code.
  • Criminal background check.
  • Urinalysis to test for illegal drug use.
  • Registration as a driver in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

  • Attend training to obtain CDL licensure; if not already a licensed CDL holder.
  • Perform highway maintenance activities; including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
