About The Position

The selected candidate will be placed in the classification in which they meet minimum qualifications. This role serves the public by working to make the roads in Ohio safer. The position involves performing highway maintenance activities, including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing. Additionally, the role includes performing snow and ice operations. The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace and prohibits the use of marijuana. This position may be subject to additional restrictions per the State of Ohio Drug-Free Workplace Policy (HR-39) and federal testing regulations.

Requirements

  • For Highway Maintenance Worker 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
  • For Highway Technician 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.
  • Must obtain Class B Commercial Drivers License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction
  • All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointments.
  • Selected applicants for this position are required to register as a driver in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
  • All candidates applying for employment opportunities should be authorized to work in the United States.
