About The Position
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is seeking to hire a Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) in Clark County. This full-time position involves serving the public by working to make Ohio roads safer. Responsibilities include performing highway maintenance activities such as flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing, as well as participating in snow and ice operations. Selected candidates will be placed in the classification for which they meet minimum qualifications. The role may require attending training to obtain CDL licensure if not already held.
Requirements
- Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction
- Ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary
- Must obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction
- For Highway Technician 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction
