About The Position

DCS Asset Maintenance is seeking a Highway Maintenance Technician to perform a variety of highway maintenance services and related tasks under close supervision. The selected applicant will train in highway and roadway routine maintenance. Duties include maintaining roadsides, culverts, pavement, shoulders, fences, and signs; supporting storm cleanup and emergency response; and removing litter and debris. The technician operates highway-maintenance equipment and uses hand and power tools. This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license with at least three years of clean driving, and the ability to work in adverse weather and perform physically demanding tasks. The hourly pay rate is $19.00. Pre-employment and other screenings may apply.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Valid driver’s license with at least three years of clean driving.
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.
Ability to bend, climb, stand, stoop, or walk for long periods.
Accurate eye-hand coordination.
Ability to adapt to changing work plans and schedules due to workload or season.

Responsibilities

Clean and clear culverts.
Mow and clear brush from roadsides.
Patch broken or eroded pavement and shoulders.
Assist with storm cleanup.
Repair fences and signs.
Remove litter and debris.
Respond to emergencies.
Operate equipment used in highway maintenance.
Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and brooms.
Use power tools such as chainsaws, pole saws, weed eaters, and backpack blowers.
