About The Position

DCS Asset Maintenance is seeking a Highway Maintenance Technician to conduct a variety of highway maintenance services and related tasks under close supervision. The selected applicant will train in highway and roadway routine maintenance. The role involves maintaining roadsides and roadway infrastructure, responding to storms and emergencies, and operating maintenance equipment and tools.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license and at least three years of clean driving.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.
• Ability to bend, climb, stand, stoop, or walk for long periods.
• Accurate eye-hand coordination.
• Ability to adapt to changing situations and changes in work plans or schedules due to workload or season.

Responsibilities

• Clean and clear culverts.
• Mow and clear brush from roadsides.
• Patch broken or eroded pavements and shoulders.
• Assist with storm cleanup.
• Repair fences and signs.
• Remove litter and debris.
• Respond to emergencies.
• Operate equipment used in highway maintenance.
• Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and brooms.
• Use power tools such as chainsaws, pole saws, weed eaters, and backpack blowers.
