About The Position

Ford Motor Company is seeking a highly motivated engineer to join its core high voltage systems engineering team. The role develops core engineering documentation for new and existing high voltage and high voltage battery technologies, including requirements, design rules, test methods, design reviews, DFMEAs, P-diagrams, boundary diagrams, and SCCPs. The engineer works cross-functionally with eDrive, non-motive power conversion, charging, and controls teams, and interfaces with Vehicle Energy Management Engineering, Vehicle Architecture, and Systems Engineering. The role also supports high voltage applications and battery unit teams as they progress through the GPDS process. The position leads high voltage electrical system projects and studies, develops generic system specifications and processes, supports global technical assessment and architecture work, and authors and advances battery unit requirements, design rules, and test methods through internal reviews and release.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical, Systems, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
  • At least 2 years of high-voltage battery or equivalent EV powertrain integration or program experience.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to facilitate team meetings and interface effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work under operational pressures, set priorities, and self-manage.

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in Electrical, Systems, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
  • At least 2 years of vehicle program experience, such as PAT, PMT, or D&R.
  • System or vehicle attribute advocacy experience and knowledge of the Systems V Process, including target setting, cascade process, assessment, and reporting.
  • Experience writing and issuing functional requirements, design rules, and foundation documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead high voltage electrical system projects and studies, including failure mode assessment, recurrence prevention, cost optimization, architecture studies, cost reduction, and technology adoption.
  • Develop a generic high voltage system design specification and define supporting pre-PS and post-PS processes and cross-functional responsibilities.
  • Lead cross-functional interfaces within EPE to map the core process for HV Battery design, attribute implementation, and information exchange across HV systems, component teams, and VEME.
  • Develop traceability between xEV attributes and requirements to improve unit workbook processes and high voltage architecture decisions.
  • Lead global implementation of the Technical Assessment Process and support continuous improvement actions and process definition with the battery technical leader.
  • Support development of generic high voltage electrical architecture, including electrical layout and subsystem interaction, to optimize system-level designs.
  • Support high voltage core systems technical specialists in developing core engineering processes, reviews, sign-offs, and advanced high voltage battery concepts, including foundation documentation, optimization analysis, and trade-off studies.
  • Author HV Battery Unit Requirements (RQT), Design Rules (DR), and Test Methods (TM), and progress them through internal review and approval processes (Tech Clubs and EDC) for release to FEDE.
  • Support the unit workbook process.
  • Support DFMEA development.

Benefits

  • Immediate medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage.
  • Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, and subsidized back-up child care.
  • Family-building benefits, including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement and fertility treatments.
  • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases.
  • Tuition assistance.
  • Employee resource groups.
  • Paid time off for individual and team community service.
  • Paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.
