About The Position

History Detectives is a methods course that challenges students by looking at five historical mysteries and examining the problem of deciding "what actually happened." By evaluating collections of sources, students consider how information always poses problems of accuracy and veracity, and develop methods to evaluate evidence. We will also examine widespread belief in some of these mysteries as evidence of society's attitude about government, media and authority.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in History.
  • CV.
  • Candidate Application Form (CAF).
  • Names and Contact Information for Referees (for external applicants).
  • Evidence of Good Teaching, including course evaluations (for external applicants).
  • Verification of highest degree (for external applicants).

Nice To Haves

  • Research expertise in the subject matter of the course.
  • Prior teaching experience in the subject matter of the course.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver lectures for the HI124 BR: History Detectives course.
  • Evaluate student applications based on the Candidate Application Form (CAF), Curriculum Vitae, and any specifically referenced pages in supplemental documents.
  • Assess applications using the "Appendix H: Assessment of CTF Candidates under 13.6.1" in the collective agreement and the program-specific rubric.
  • Potentially perform marking and grading, with supplementary remuneration as per Article 28.2.
  • Potentially coordinate large classes or multi-section courses as per Article 28.3.
