About The Position
We are seeking a Hematology & Oncology Physician for a Locum Tenens position in Las Cruces, NM. This role involves providing full-time clinical coverage Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with a 1:2 call ratio for nights and weekends. The physician will manage an average daily patient volume of 17, including new patients and follow-ups, and participate in weekly tumor boards. This position is within a COC-accredited Cancer Center, offering collaboration with a dedicated support staff including RNs, MAs, PA/NPs, and a pharmacist. The service setting is inpatient/outpatient, and the coverage period is ASAP – Ongoing.
Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology & Oncology.
- Possess a New Mexico (NM) License or be willing to obtain one.
- BLS certification required.
- Hospital Privileges Required.
Responsibilities
- Provide full-time coverage Monday through Friday, 8a-5p, with potential for weekend call.
- Manage a daily patient volume of approximately 17 patients, including 1-hour new patient appointments and 20-minute follow-ups.
- Share weekday night call responsibilities with other providers, handling RN questions regarding patient calls, chemotherapy patients, and minimal ED consults.
- Participate in weekly tumor boards and collaborate with dedicated pharmacists, radiation oncology, and support staff in a COC-accredited Cancer Center.
- Utilize the Mosiaq EMR system for all patient documentation and care coordination.
