About The Position

The Helper assists drivers in completing customer routes while providing exceptional customer service and following health and safety protocols. The role involves loading and emptying residential and commercial containers manually or mechanically, returning serviced containers to their original locations upright with covers in place, and assisting drivers with backing maneuvers. Helpers load trash and recycling into rear-load trucks and work in varying weather conditions in a fast-paced, changing industry. The position requires repeatedly lifting 50 pounds throughout the day and maintaining the stamina to complete physically demanding duties. Helpers are expected to maintain a safe work environment, communicate professionally with customers and coworkers, participate in training and learning opportunities, and perform other duties that support the company’s vision, mission, and core values.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds constantly throughout the day and work in varying weather conditions.
• Successful completion of pre-employment testing, including a drug screen.
• Proven work ethic and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Load and empty residential and/or commercial containers into trucks manually or mechanically.
• Maneuver containers staged curbside or dockside, requiring carryout, or requiring pullout to complete service.
• Operate hoisting devices to lift and empty bins or containers into the truck hopper.
• Return serviced bins to their pickup locations, upright and with covers replaced.
• Assist the driver with all backing maneuvers while on route.
• Load trash and recycling into a rear-load truck in varying weather conditions.
• Lift 50 pounds constantly throughout the day and maintain the stamina to complete the physically demanding duties of the position.
• Maintain a safe working environment.
• Communicate professionally with customers and other employees.
• Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services.
• Perform other duties needed to help drive the company’s vision, fulfill its mission, and abide by its core values.
