About The Position

The Helper assists a driver in completing customer routes while providing exceptional customer service and following health and safety protocols. The role involves loading and emptying residential or commercial containers, returning containers to their original locations, and assisting with truck maneuvers. Helpers work in changing weather conditions and a fast-paced industry, and must be able to lift 50 pounds constantly throughout the day. They communicate professionally with customers and employees, participate in training and learning opportunities, and perform other duties that support the company’s vision, mission, and core values.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds constantly throughout the day and work under different weather conditions.
• Successful completion of pre-employment testing, including a drug screen.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
• Proven work ethic and commitment to safety.
• Positive, team-oriented, customer-driven approach and openness to personal and professional training and development.

Responsibilities

• Load and empty residential and/or commercial containers into the truck manually or mechanically.
• Maneuver containers staged curbside or dockside, requiring carryout, or requiring pullout to complete service.
• Operate a hoisting device to lift and empty bins or containers into the truck hopper.
• Return serviced bins and containers to their pickup locations, upright, with covers replaced.
• Assist the driver with all backing maneuvers while on route.
• Load trash and recycling into a rear-load truck in fluctuating weather conditions.
• Maintain a safe working environment.
• Communicate professionally with customers and other employees.
• Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services.
• Perform other duties needed to support the company’s vision, mission, and core values.
