About The Position

The Helper supports waste management and recycling operations by assisting the driver with trash collection and disposal. The role involves operating lever hand controls for hydraulic machinery when needed, helping the driver maneuver the truck in tight or difficult spaces, and sorting and loading materials. Helpers work outdoors in varied weather and help ensure materials are disposed of in the truck’s designated areas. The position requires physical activity, attention to safety, and collaboration with the driver and team.

Requirements

Ability to lift more than 70 pounds throughout a typical shift.
Ability to perform physical activity including heavy lifting, fast-paced walking, and climbing in and out of the truck.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and in all weather conditions.
Ability to operate lever hand controls for hydraulic machinery.
Team player with strong communication skills and a dedication to safety.
Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently assist the driver in picking up trash and disposing of it in the truck.
Operate lever hand controls for hydraulic machinery when needed.
Assist the driver with backing up the truck in tight spaces or difficult environments.
Perform heavy lifting and assist with sorting and loading materials.
Navigate through streets, alleyways, highways, and construction sites.
Follow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment.
Ensure proper disposal of trash and recyclables in the truck's designated areas.
