About The Position

The Helper assists a driver in completing customer routes, with a focus on exceptional customer service and compliance with health and safety protocols. The role involves handling residential and/or commercial waste and recycling containers, assisting with truck operations and backing maneuvers, and working in changing weather conditions. It is physically demanding and requires regularly lifting 50 pounds throughout the day. The Helper works in a fast-paced, changing industry and communicates professionally with customers and employees. The position also involves participating in training and other learning opportunities and performing other duties that support the company’s vision, mission, and core values.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds constantly throughout the day and work under many different weather conditions.
• Successful completion of pre-employment testing, including a drug screen.
• Desired: excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong relationship-management skills, and dedication to excellent customer service.
• Desired: demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, a proven work ethic, and a proven commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Load and empty residential and/or commercial containers into a truck manually or mechanically.
• Maneuver containers staged curbside or dockside, requiring carryout, or requiring pullout to complete service.
• Operate a hoisting device to lift and empty bins or containers into the truck hopper.
• Return serviced bins to their pickup locations in an upright position, with covers replaced.
• Assist the driver with all backing maneuvers while on route.
• Load trash and recycling into a rear-load truck in fluctuating weather conditions.
• Maintain a safe working environment.
• Communicate professionally with customers and other employees.
• Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services.
• Perform other duties needed to support the company’s vision, mission, and core values.
