About The Position

The Helper assists drivers in completing customer routes while providing exceptional customer service and following health and safety protocols. The role involves manually or mechanically loading and emptying residential and commercial containers, handling trash and recycling, and working in fluctuating weather conditions. It is physically demanding and requires repeatedly lifting 50 pounds throughout the day. The Helper also assists with vehicle backing maneuvers, returns serviced containers to their pickup locations, and helps maintain a safe working environment. The successful candidate communicates professionally, works collaboratively, and participates in training and learning opportunities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds constantly throughout the day and maintain the stamina to complete physically demanding duties.
• Ability to work under varied weather conditions.
• Successful completion of pre-employment testing, including a drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Load and empty residential and/or commercial containers into the truck manually or mechanically.
• Maneuver containers staged curbside or dockside, requiring carryout, or requiring pullout to complete service.
• Operate a hoisting device to lift and empty bins or containers into the truck hopper.
• Return serviced bins to their pickup locations in an upright position, with covers replaced.
• Assist the driver with all backing maneuvers while on route.
• Load trash and recycling into a rear-load truck in fluctuating weather conditions.
• Maintain a safe working environment and follow health and safety protocols.
• Communicate professionally with customers and other employees.
• Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services.
• Perform other duties needed to support the company’s vision, mission, and core values.
