About The Position

The Helper teams with a Route Driver to assist with collecting waste and/or recyclable materials. This is a safety-sensitive, on-site position that requires strict compliance with safety rules and protocols. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 6:00 a.m., with 10–12-hour days. The stated pay range is $18.00. The role involves physical handling of containers and may be subject to pre-employment, post-incident, reasonable-suspicion, and random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with government regulations and company policies.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Follow WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA requirements, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
Immediately report unsafe situations or service-related issues to the Operations Manager or Dispatch.
Attend and participate in scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WM or directed by the Operations Manager.
Manually or mechanically load and empty residential and/or commercial containers into the truck.
Service containers staged curbside or dockside, requiring carryout, or requiring pullout.
Operate a hoisting device to lift and empty bins or containers into the truck hopper.
Assist the driver with all backing maneuvers while on route.
Notify the Operations Manager of incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
Notify the Operations Manager or Dispatch about service interruptions, including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, containers too heavy to service, or potential safety hazards.
Communicate customer requests to the Operations Manager or Dispatch.
Perform duties as scheduled by the Operations Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
