Heavy Haul Truck Driver
About The Position
Corthell Transportation is a family-owned, long-haul trucking company specializing in heavy-haul and over-dimensional freight requiring stretch equipment. Drivers transport oversized and overweight freight, with loads ranging from legal weight to more than 100,000 pounds. Equipment includes trailers ranging from 15 to 55 feet and longer, as well as long-haul winch trucks. The position is over the road, and drivers may live anywhere in the continental United States; the company reports providing home time every three to four weeks. Compensation is listed as $95,000 to $105,000 per year, with earnings depending on experience. The company also offers daily per diem, orientation and training pay, and up to $1,500 in reimbursable expenses for travel to orientation. Equipment includes 2021 Peterbilt trucks, new Western Star winch trucks, and maintained RGN and SD stretch trailers.
Requirements
- Class A CDL.
- At least 3 years of commercial driving experience.
- At least 2 years of multi-axle experience.
- For the winch truck job, 2 years of winch truck or oilfield experience.
Nice To Haves
- TWIC card (preferred).
- Experience with stretch trailers and multi-axle step and RGN trailers.
- Machine operating experience for loading and unloading.
- Knowledge of state weight allowances.
- Knowledge of state laws for oversize loads and pilot car requirements by state.
- Winch truck experience.
Responsibilities
- Drive long-haul routes transporting heavy-haul, oversized, overweight, and over-dimensional freight.
- Operate equipment suited to loads ranging from legal weight to more than 100,000 pounds.
- For the winch truck role, operate long-haul winch trucks.
- Load and unload freight when required.
