About The Position

HiFyve is hiring an experienced Heavy Haul Trucking Manager for an established company in the crane rental and specialized heavy transportation industry. The role oversees heavy haul operations, equipment utilization, transportation logistics, and the safe execution of complex oversized and overweight loads. The manager will bring hands-on knowledge of multi-axle heavy haul configurations, specialized trailers, and large-equipment transportation while managing operations, personnel, and equipment. The location is flexible, with preference for candidates near Charleston, SC; Rockingham, NC; Spartanburg, SC; or the I-95/I-26 corridors. This is a full-time, direct-hire position. Total compensation is $135,000–$200,000, including performance-based bonuses.

Requirements

Extensive experience in heavy haul trucking, specialized transportation, or oversized/overweight load operations.
Strong technical knowledge of multi-axle trailer configurations, specifically 8-axle through 24-axle setups.
Experience with specialized heavy haul trailers, including Trail King, Fontaine, or comparable equipment.
Ability to determine appropriate trailer configurations based on load weight, dimensions, and transportation requirements.
Strong understanding of axle loading, weight distribution, permitting, routing, and load securement.
Previous experience managing heavy haul operations, drivers, equipment, or transportation logistics.
Ability to troubleshoot complex transportation challenges and make sound operational decisions.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of DOT regulations and oversized/overweight transportation requirements.

Nice To Haves

Hands-on experience with Trail King TK500, TK400, TK200, TK170, and TK160 trailer configurations.
Experience with Fontaine 55-ton and 60-ton lowboy trailers.
Background in crane rental, heavy equipment transportation, specialized rigging, or heavy construction.
Experience managing large-scale heavy haul projects involving complex multi-axle configurations.
Familiarity with transporting cranes, counterweights, construction equipment, and oversized industrial components.
Experience overseeing both operational planning and field execution of heavy haul moves.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily heavy haul trucking operations, including scheduling, dispatching, equipment allocation, and transportation logistics.
Plan and coordinate oversized and overweight loads using specialized multi-axle trailer configurations.
Manage complex heavy haul operations involving 8-axle through 24-axle configurations.
Provide technical expertise on trailer configurations, axle spacing, weight distribution, and load securement.
Oversee utilization and maintenance coordination of specialized heavy haul trailers and equipment.
Coordinate permitting, routing, escorts, and regulatory requirements for oversized and overweight transportation.
Work with crane operations, project managers, dispatchers, and field personnel to ensure successful project execution.
Lead and support drivers and transportation personnel while maintaining high safety and performance standards.
Evaluate transportation requirements, equipment capabilities, and operational challenges.
Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, state permitting requirements, and company safety standards.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, equipment utilization, and profitability.
