About The Position

Heavy Haul, LLC is a transportation and logistics company specializing in the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of heavy equipment, oversized loads, and specialized freight for customers in construction, industrial, and related industries. The Heavy Haul Dispatcher/Coordinator coordinates and efficiently dispatches trucks transporting oversized and overweight loads. The role requires careful attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple shipments at once. The dispatcher briefs drivers on load details, routes, and safety regulations and works closely with customers, drivers, and the operations team to support timely deliveries. The position is based in an office environment, with regular interaction with drivers and customers by phone and email. It is fast-paced and requires quick decision-making and adaptability, as well as knowledge of heavy and construction equipment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong understanding of DOT regulations, oversized-load requirements, and permit processes.
Proficiency with dispatch software, GPS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

Additional education or certifications in logistics or transportation.
Previous experience in heavy haul or transportation dispatching.
Class A CDL.
Knowledge of heavy equipment and construction equipment.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and schedule heavy haul shipments, selecting appropriate routes for oversized and overweight loads.
Assign drivers to loads based on load requirements, driver availability, and safety considerations.
Monitor shipment progress and provide real-time updates to customers and management.
Serve as the primary contact for drivers, customers, and other stakeholders about shipment details and issues.
Communicate regularly with drivers to support schedule adherence and compliance with safety protocols.
Resolve on-the-road issues, including delays, equipment breakdowns, and route changes.
Ensure shipments comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including permit, weight-limit, and route requirements.
Prepare and maintain accurate shipment records, including load details, delivery times, and incidents.
Coordinate with regulatory agencies to obtain required permits and clearances for oversized loads.
Monitor and enforce safety standards and procedures for heavy haul operations.
Assist with accident investigations and reporting, ensuring incidents are documented and addressed.
Provide pre-trip safety briefings to drivers and ensure equipment is inspected and complies with safety regulations.
Build and maintain customer relationships, address inquiries and concerns, and provide updates and solutions.
Use dispatch software and other tools to manage and track shipments.
Prepare and submit reports on dispatch activities, performance metrics, and issues encountered.
Collaborate with the operations team to improve dispatch efficiency and service delivery.
