About The Position

NorthStar Energy Solutions, LLC, a Quanta Services company serving the electrical and gas utility sectors across the Central Southwest United States, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic. The role troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains a range of heavy equipment and vehicles, including bucket trucks, diggers, directional drills, excavators, backhoes, trailers, and pickups and larger trucks. The mechanic must have knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and air brakes, and be able to operate and work from a mobile mechanics truck.

Work is most frequently outdoors in varying weather, wet and dry conditions, and rural areas. Duties may take place around energized or de-energized electric lines and equipment, moving mechanical parts, and in confined spaces. The role may involve exposure to odors, gases, dust, dirt, and moderate-to-loud noise. Work requires substantial physical exertion, including lifting, carrying, reaching overhead, standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, and pulling. Employees may drive or ride for extended periods to reach remote areas. Drug and alcohol testing may apply under federal regulations or Quanta requirements. Requirements

• At least 3 years of heavy mechanical experience, preferably working on heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical components.
• Must have a current D.O.T. medical certificate at minimum and be able to obtain a Class A C.D.L.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, including bucket trucks, diggers, directional drills, excavators, and backhoes.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain trailers, pickups, one-ton vehicles, and larger trucks.
• Operate and work out of a mobile mechanics truck.
