About The Position

NorthStar Energy Solutions, LLC., a Quanta Services company serving the electrical and gas utility sectors in the Central Southwest United States, is hiring a Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic. The role troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains heavy equipment and vehicles, including aerial equipment such as bucket trucks and diggers, directional drills, excavators, backhoes, trailers, pickups, one-ton vehicles, and larger trucks. The mechanic must have knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and air brakes, and be able to operate and work from a mobile mechanics truck.

Work is performed most frequently outdoors in varied weather and ground conditions, including rural areas. Duties may take place around energized and de-energized electrical lines and equipment, moving mechanical parts, and in confined spaces. The role may involve exposure to odors, gases, dust, dirt, and moderate-to-loud noise. Physical work includes exertion, frequent lifting and carrying, overhead reaching, and standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching. Work may involve poles up to 75 feet high and extended driving or riding in line construction vehicles to reach remote areas. Drug and alcohol testing applies as required by federal regulations or Quanta. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of heavy mechanical experience; heavy equipment experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical components.
• Must have a current D.O.T. medical certificate at minimum.
• Must be able to obtain a Class A C.D.L.
• Must be able to perform the physical demands described, with reasonable accommodations as applicable.

Responsibilities
