About The Position

CWS is a provider of waste management services in South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, and Florida. The Heavy Equipment Operator safely operates heavy equipment at a recycling center, landfill, or transfer station to transfer, spread, cover, load, and/or compact waste or soil efficiently and safely. The position is full-time and performed in person.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
Good customer service skills and a professional, courteous, cooperative, honest, and trustworthy manner toward customers and coworkers.
Good time-management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
Ability to adhere to a work schedule and follow through on challenges.
Ability to follow company policies and rules, promote safety standards, and avoid inappropriate risks.
Pride in work and motivation to achieve goals.

Nice To Haves

Three years of dozer experience preferred.
Three years of excavator experience preferred.
One year of solid waste management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform pre- and post-operation equipment inspections in accordance with company policy, ensuring windows, lights, mirrors, and rearview cameras are clean.
Safely and efficiently operate equipment such as forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, and front-end loaders in accordance with safety standards.
Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
Monitor equipment condition to ensure operational readiness and minimize downtime; clean equipment tracks or wheels as needed.
Perform and document minor equipment service and refer more complicated mechanical issues to the Maintenance Shop.
Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other necessary reports, and report necessary repairs to a supervisor.
Follow required safety policies and procedures.
Ensure equipment is clean, serviced, and stored at the completion of each shift.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
