About The Position

Weyerhaeuser’s log yard facility in Cottageville, South Carolina is seeking individuals who are committed to safety, have a positive attitude, excellent work ethic and a desire to work in an industrial setting. At Weyerhaeuser, we offer positions with on-the-job training and continued growth potential. This Equipment Operator position will serve as a member of the flow-to-work log yard team, conducting various production and clean up tasks.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Able to perform labor-intensive work
  • Able to work in extreme temperatures, in dusty and noisy conditions, while wearing safety equipment
  • Able to work safely around moving manufacturing equipment and machinery
  • Able to lift 2-20 pounds regularly, climb steps and ladders, work from height, and stand or walk for 2-3 hours at a time for 10 hours

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating a skid steer, water truck, ag equipment
  • Knowledge of raw materials/log yards
  • Basic computer skills a plus

Responsibilities

  • Committed to working safely and adhering to log yard safety procedures
  • Perform miscellaneous clean-up and general housekeeping activities as required
  • Use pressure washer and other equipment to prepare logs for inspection and keep rolling stock clean
  • Safely and competently operate a pickup truck, golf cart, and compact agricultural tractor
  • Over time be trained in the safe and competent operation of the yard truck, front-end loader, and knuckle boom
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and complete preventive maintenance procedures
  • Collaborate with team members, as well as work independently
  • Contribute positively within a highly efficient and safe work team
  • Attach any required paperwork and/or painting to log loads
  • Maintain inventory of stock material
  • Adapt to job assignments changes and flow to work as needed
  • Perform overtime duties when needed to meet customer demands
  • Prioritize work schedule and work under pressure
  • Visually and physically check loads of logs for specification accuracy
