About The Position

We are a commercial and industrial electrical contractor seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery to support construction, excavation, grading, and site development projects. The ideal candidate has experience operating multiple types of equipment, follows all safety regulations, and works effectively as part of a team to complete projects on time and within quality standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
  • Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read blueprints and construction plans is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, graders, rollers, and other construction machinery.
  • Perform excavation, grading, trenching, loading, backfilling, and material handling tasks according to project specifications.
  • Conduct daily pre-operation and post-operation inspections of equipment.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as checking fluid levels, greasing components, and cleaning equipment.
  • Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and project specifications.
  • Maintain awareness of underground utilities and overhead hazards.
  • Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and all applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, foremen, and crew members.
  • Assist with manual labor and other construction duties when equipment is not in operation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Complete required inspection reports, equipment logs, and other documentation.
