About The Position
Under the direction of the Superintendent/Foreman, a Heavy Equipment Operator will carry out assignments related to the operation of heavy equipment in relation to lay-outs, fine grade, trenching & pit excavations, and finishing applications and hoisting.
Requirements
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as Backhoe, Excavator, Roller, Dozer, Rough Terrain Forklift.
- Ability to set up and use rotating and slope lasers.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards for benching and slopes.
- Understanding of proper backfilling methods in lifts for proper compaction.
- Ability to determine equipment needs and material delivery rates.
- Ability to determine spoil truck needs for continuous flow.
- Ability to determine safe working conditions based on soil type.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for lay-outs, including setting up and using rotating and slope lasers to ensure proper grade.
- Responsible for fine grade operations, including placement of rock trucks and ensuring proper grade is obtained.
- Completes trenching and pit excavations, controlling and maintaining lay-out lines and ensuring OSHA standards for benching and slopes.
- Completes finishing applications and hoisting, determining equipment needed for required compaction and exercising proper methods of backfilling in lifts.
