About The Position

At MasTec Communications Group, the Heavy Equipment Operator supports utility construction for various types of telecommunications projects. The role involves operating and maintaining light construction equipment, troubleshooting field problems, and helping ensure crew safety and productivity by interpreting utility locates and above-ground utility indicators. The position emphasizes safety, high-quality work, hands-on teamwork, and long-term projects. Compensation is $28–$36, depending on experience.

Requirements

Experience operating heavy equipment on a construction site.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain a DOT medical card for driving purposes.
Applicants are subject to an MVR review and must meet company standards for a safe driving record.
Commitment to safety and completing work to a high level of quality.
Hands-on problem-solving ability and willingness to work as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

CDL preferred.
MOS Codes 12N, 12V, 21E, and 21J are identified as relevant to the position.

Responsibilities

Support all phases of utility construction for various types of telecommunications projects.
Operate light construction equipment, including backhoes, cable plows, trenchers, hydraulic reel trailers, and other machinery.
Ensure construction equipment is maintained as required.
Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field.
Read and understand utility locates and above-ground utility indicators to help ensure crew safety and productivity.
