About The Position

DHT Group is seeking safety-minded, experienced Heavy Equipment Operators for seasonal work supporting Michigan Sugar operations. Operators will be assigned to Michigan Sugar locations, including in-plant operations and select piling grounds, and will primarily operate large front-end loaders to safely and efficiently load and move sugar beets. The anticipated start is mid-September, with exact campaign dates to be determined based on operational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience operating large front-end loaders or comparable heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of safe heavy-equipment operation and worksite safety practices.
  • Ability to inspect, clean, and perform basic operator-level maintenance on equipment.
  • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail.
  • Dependable with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with an 80,000 lb front end loader.
  • Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards.
  • Ability to maintain, inspect, clean, and occasionally repair pieces of heavy equipment.
  • Keen attention to detail and situational awareness to maintain the safety of the work environment.
  • Strong work ethic.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL-A preferred but not required.
  • Previous agricultural, material-handling, excavation, or similar heavy-equipment experience is a plus.
  • Possession of commercial driver’s license A.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate front-end loaders and other assigned heavy equipment.
  • Load and move sugar beets in accordance with established procedures and safety requirements.
  • Work safely around trucks, equipment, employees, and other activity within the work area.
  • Perform regular pre-operation and equipment condition inspections.
  • Monitor equipment for safe and proper operation.
  • Perform routine operator-level cleaning and preventative maintenance.
  • Identify and report equipment issues requiring repair or additional maintenance.
  • Perform minor equipment-related tasks when qualified and appropriate.
  • Assist with other duties within the operation as needed.
  • Follow all DHT, customer, local, state, and federal safety requirements.
