About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Operator supports the Line team on Data Center projects by operating construction machines used to install underground conduit, cables, transformers, pull boxes, transformer pads, and switchgear. The role works with personnel within the department and may assist the maintenance crew or perform laborer duties when not operating equipment. The position is based in a field environment and involves physically active work, including operating equipment and working outdoors in inclement weather.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
1–2 years of relevant experience.
Valid driver's license.
Excavation experience.
Ability to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to distinguish colors, judge distance and spatial relationships, and maintain clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less.
Precise hand-eye coordination.

Nice To Haves

Two or more years of experience.
OSHA 10 Certification.

Responsibilities

Safely operate jobsite equipment such as mobile cranes, bulldozers, angle dozers, front end loaders, backhoes, excavators, track hoes, trenchers, digger-derricks, and other construction equipment.
Perform equipment service and safety checks, check oil and fluids, and make minor repairs.
Inspect the work area to ensure it has been staked or located before digging.
Work with the maintenance crew or assist as a laborer when not operating equipment.
Dig around all live underground and overhead utilities.
Train, guide, or oversee lower-graded operators and laborers when needed.
Follow applicable safety standards, procedures, and work practices, using the higher standard when MasTec and the customer standards differ.
Load trucks safely and without accidents.
Help improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and cooperate to provide quality, timely customer service.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
