About The Position

Operates a tractor with backhoe attachment or a truck with sewer-rodding or vacuum attachment; works under the general supervision of the Drain Maintenance Supervisor; may be required to supervise subordinate employees; performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Two (2) years' experience as a heavy construction equipment operator -OR- two (2) years' Light Equipment Operator experience in the Genesee County Drain Department
• Possession of a valid Group "A" CDL with endorsement N and no restrictions
• Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license

Responsibilities

• Manipulates heavy motor equipment
• Operates tractor with backhoe attachment for digging holes for repairing and laying tile
• Operates a sewer-rodding machine mounted on a truck bed in the cleaning of sewers and catch basins
• Operates a sewer-washing machine mounted on a truck bed in the cleaning of sewers and catch basins
• Operates a sewer-vacuuming machine mounted on a truck bed in the cleaning of sewers and catch basins
• Operates a truck in connection with the hauling of refuse obtained from catch basins and sewer lines
• Performs the same duties a Light Equipment Operator when not performing the duties as a Heavy Equipment Operator
• Makes routine repairs to heavy equipment
• Maintains records and submits reports as required
