About The Position

Global Machinery is a full-service construction equipment dealership serving Northern California. We sell, rent, service, and support premium equipment from industry-leading manufacturers including Mecalac, FAE, Morbark, Rayco, Avant, Finn, Thaler, Leguan, and other specialty equipment brands. We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Service Technician who takes pride in diagnosing equipment correctly, performing quality repairs, and working with minimal supervision. If you enjoy solving mechanical problems, working on a variety of equipment, and expanding your technical skills through factory training, we'd like to hear from you. This is a full-time shop position based in our Sacramento facility. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Service Technician, you will diagnose, repair, inspect, and maintain a wide variety of construction, forestry, and specialty equipment. From routine preventative maintenance to major component replacements, you'll play a critical role in keeping our customers' equipment operating safely and reliably. Our technicians work on a diverse lineup of equipment, including: Excavators, Compact track loaders, Skid steers, Compact wheel loaders, Forestry mulchers, Chippers and grinders, Hydroseeders and turf equipment, Specialty access equipment, Diesel-powered construction equipment, Hydraulic attachments and auxiliary systems. No two days are the same. We are looking for technicians who enjoy troubleshooting complex problems and take pride in repairing equipment the right way the first time.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience repairing heavy construction, agricultural, forestry, or diesel-powered equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, drivetrain, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficient welding and basic fabrication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong work ethic with attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Basic computer skills for diagnostics, service documentation, and parts lookup.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or vocational training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, and mechanical systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, and scheduled service.
  • Complete repairs ranging from routine maintenance to major component replacement.
  • Utilize manufacturer diagnostic software, service manuals, and technical resources.
  • Accurately document inspections, repairs, labor, and parts used.
  • Perform welding and light fabrication as required to complete repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Work closely with the Parts and Service departments to complete repairs efficiently.
  • Participate in manufacturer training and technical development opportunities.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
