About The Position

Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Field Lube Technician. This role is responsible for performing oil and fluid changes, filter replacement, and lubricating fittings and equipment on heavy and earthmoving equipment. The technician will also complete inspections and preventative maintenance, adhering to all company, state, and federal safety guidelines. This position requires travel to customer jobsites.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid Class A CDL
  • Have and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record free of disqualifying offenses.
  • Meet fit for duty requirements and be able to obtain a DOT medical certificate.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment DOT Federal drug screen.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with and servicing heavy equipment.
  • Possess basic technical and mechanical skills.
  • Candidate must meet all requirements above, have no disqualifying offenses relating to safety performance history checks, drug and alcohol records, motor vehicle records, and must be determined to be fit for duty.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment, including remote jobsites, free of spills and hazards.
  • Cooperate with and follow incident reporting and safety guidelines.
  • Communicate safety concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Utilize and properly maintain all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Safely operate and utilize safety restraints on heavy equipment and commercial motor vehicles.
  • Travel to customer jobsites to perform required inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy/earthmoving equipment.
  • Conduct and perform oil sampling, oil, fluid, and filter changes, and lubricate fittings and equipment as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Dispose of used oil and filters daily according to company and EPA guidelines.
  • Professionally communicate issues with equipment to customers, shop foreman, and service manager.
  • Accurately order replacement fittings, hoses, etc. from the MTEC Parts Department.
  • Maintain adequate parts and tool inventory on the lube truck.
  • Inspect and utilize tools to ensure safe operating conditions.
  • Ensure the lube truck (CMV) is clean, organized, properly maintained, and in safe operating condition.
  • Utilize various computer programs consistently and effectively.
  • Prepare and accurately complete maintenance records, reports, and work orders.
  • Accurately record hours of service, inspections, and mileage reports.
  • Effectively communicate internally and with customers verbally and via email.
