About The Position

Mustang Cat is hiring a Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician based in Houston, Texas. The technician performs advanced diagnostics, overhauls, and repairs on Caterpillar diesel-powered construction equipment in the field. The role includes independent work at customer job sites using a company-provided service truck, with a focus on minimizing equipment downtime. Requirements

• Own appropriate tools for diagnostics and repairs.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of hydraulics, transmissions, and undercarriage systems.
• Experience using diagnostic systems such as Cat ET.

Nice To Haves

• Prior military mechanic or heavy equipment repair experience is strongly valued.
• Welding and fabrication experience, including MIG welding, arc welding, oxyacetylene, and arc gouging.
• Hands-on experience with hydraulic pumps, valves, and motors.
• OEM, dealership, or technical school equipment service training.
• Advanced proficiency with Caterpillar diagnostic platforms.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar construction equipment.
• Use Cat ET and other diagnostic platforms to troubleshoot equipment systems.
• Service hydraulic, electrical, transmission, fuel, and undercarriage systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance, installations, rebuilds, and repairs.
• Operate independently in the field using a company-provided service truck.
• Support customers and help minimize equipment downtime at job sites.
