About The Position

Vermeer Midwest is hiring a Field Service Technician to serve customers in the Sterling Heights area. This is a hands-on, mobile role involving independent work from a fully equipped service truck that the technician takes home. The company provides the truck and its tooling. The technician diagnoses and repairs heavy equipment, performs inspections and preventive maintenance, documents service work, communicates with customers and internal teams, manages their schedule, and maintains the truck.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience repairing heavy-duty vehicles or equipment.
• Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and acetylene and arc welding.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex issues on-site.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Valid Chauffeur’s license and medical card.
• Must pass a background check, drug screen, and MVR check.

Nice To Haves

• CDL is preferred.
• Background in agricultural equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical issues on heavy equipment.
• Perform inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Maintain accurate service records and reports.
• Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.
• Work independently and manage the schedule efficiently.
• Maintain the service truck’s maintenance, cleanliness, and organization.
