About The Position

Under the general direction of the Mechanical Services Manager, the Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics main responsibility is to be able to diagnose and complete repairs on all company heavy equipment.

Requirements

• Must have Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
• Experienced apprentice
• Must have a valid Driver’s License (Driver’s abstract required)
• Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Must be able to work in potentially hazardous environment with exposure to variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts and electrical current
• Willing to learn and take direction

Responsibilities

• Perform all needed maintenance activities for all construction fleet vehicles. Including; Rock trucks, bulldozers, excavators, grader, backhoe, forklift and trucks
• Assist in running a clean, safe and professional shop
• Fleet maintenance will usually be completed in the shop and sometimes on the mountain
• Welding on non critical components
• Assist with part sourcing and purchasing
• Immediately report to management any operating condition that is outside of federal/provincial and company policy or code
• Ensure cooperation with other company employees to expedite work
• Maintain records of all maintenance activity
• Ensure that all related activities are conducted in a safe manner through sound judgment and knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines
