Overview The Diesel Mechanic performs preventative maintenance on tractor trailer fleet Level I SCHEDULE: Thursday, Friday, Saturday 7pm-7am Responsibilities Perform basic inspection (check fluids, lights, brakes, etc.) Perform preventive maintenance on cars, trucks, trailers, and other equipment. Responsible for diagnosis and repair of tractors including but not limited to brakes, suspension, transmissions Responsible for body repair including welding Fuel company equipment. Keep garage and all working areas clean. Record and enter maintenance and parts information into the computer. Work in a safe manner adhering to all MDI, state, and federal safety guidelines. Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, and lift to 100 lbs Operate trailer yard spotter as needed. Will be required to be on call, as needed. Change truck and trailer tires, as needed. May be required to do other jobs or tasks, as needed. Qualifications 2-5 years of hands-on repair and diagnosis experience Air conditioning certified Needs the following ASE certifications: Suspension/Steering, Air brake, Diesel/Gasoline, Transmission/Differential Experience in transmission/differential repair Intermediate computer skills with diagnosis programs preferred Experience with Mack/Detroit engines Basic welding skills Must be able to bend, twist, and lift up to 100+ lbs and pass lifting test. Must have own basic tools and tool chest.
