The Diesel Mechanic performs preventative maintenance on a tractor trailer fleet. This is a Level I position with a schedule of Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 3pm to 3am. Responsibilities include performing basic inspections, preventive maintenance on various vehicles and equipment, diagnosing and repairing tractors (brakes, suspension, transmissions), body repair including welding, fueling company equipment, maintaining a clean work area, recording maintenance and parts information, adhering to safety guidelines, and operating a trailer yard spotter. The role also involves being on call as needed, changing truck and trailer tires, and potentially performing other tasks as required. Physical requirements include the ability to bend, stoop, stretch, and lift up to 100 lbs, and passing a lifting test. Mechanics must also have their own basic tools and tool chest.
