About The Position

Cowlitz Family Health Center is seeking a full time Health Care Records Clerk to play the vital role in protecting, organizing, and ensuring access to critical patient information—supporting both patients and care teams every step of the way! Cowlitz Family Health Center provides a wide range of services to all individuals, regardless of background or socio-economic status, including medical, dental, family planning, substance abuse treatment, and behavioral health services. Requirements

  • Associate degree in health information technology or equivalent combination of job experience and education.
  • 1-5 years of previous work experience performing medical records, general clerical, data entry, and customer service duties, preferably within an outpatient primary care clinic.
  • Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent customer service skills with patients, clients, co-workers, colleagues and vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a low-income, multi-ethnic patient population and relate respectfully and effectively to people of diverse racial, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Must be a confident, self-directed individual who can work within a team as well as independently.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, utilizing concise and comprehensive documentation with strong technical writing and record-keeping skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in medical, dental, nutrition, behavioral health, or other terminology pertinent to the position and to outpatient social service office procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is preferred.
  • ICD/CPT coding knowledge is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
