About The Position

The Hearing Officer conducts in-person and ex parte hearings to review testimony and documentary evidence to resolve parking ticket disputes as well as disputes related to various booted and towed vehicles and their storage charges. Responsibilities include administrative review and adjudication of disputed parking tickets. The successful candidate will be able to evaluate documents and testimony to, within applicable law, render decisions and communicate the decision to the party making the appeal.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work and make sound decisions in a stressful and very fast paced environment
  • Ability to quickly obtain information from a relational data base
  • Good personal computer and keyboard skills
  • Ability to familiarize, understand and retain knowledge of Title 12 of the Philadelphia Traffic Code
  • Ability to note decisions in a clear, concise language which are obtained as part of public record
  • Must be a city of Philadelphia resident within six months of hire
