About The Position

This role involves working under the direct supervision of an engineer to perform various tasks related to healthcare facility design and construction. The specialist will be responsible for creating submittal packages for operating room (OR) layouts, coordinating projects to ensure timely completion and high quality, and supporting manufacturing by preparing detailed drawings and troubleshooting design issues. The position also requires assisting field support teams, collaborating with technical sales, providing feedback to engineering teams, advising the purchasing department, and utilizing CAD software for design and prototyping. A strong understanding of healthcare regulations, air distribution systems, and CAD modeling is essential.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or foreign equivalent in engineering technology or computer-aided drafting and design, or a closely related field of study.
  • 24 months of work experience as Design-Drafter, or a related occupation.
  • 24 months experience working in operating room system design and manufacturing coordination within a healthcare or an HVAC related environment.
  • Creating submittal packages based on room sizes, medical equipment plans, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Coordinating projects ensuring timely completion of designs, effective use of resources, and maintaining high quality deliverables.
  • Supporting manufacturing including preparing detailed manufacturing drawings, troubleshooting fitment or design issues, and advising on non-standard product designs.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SolidEdge), Autodesk REVIT, and Visual Lighting photometric analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Create submittal package for hospital operating room (OR) hybrid and traditional air diffuser layouts that comply with industry standards based on customer information on room sizes and medical equipment plans.
  • Coordinate projects ensuring timely completion of designs, effective use of resources, and maintaining high quality deliverables.
  • Ensure designs are launched into manufacturing with intent and support factory requests to help troubleshoot any fitment or design issues.
  • Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings that the factory uses as instructions to build non-standard product designs.
  • Assist Field Support team to diagnose potential defects with our products in the field and advise with potential solutions to fix said defects.
  • Work with the Technical Sales team to answer any questions they have about OR system design and plan out timelines for large, high-risk projects.
  • Provide Sustaining Engineering and Automation team feedback to improve our current automation and do testing for new automation updates.
  • Advise Purchasing team on non-standard materials that need to be purchased for upcoming orders.
  • Provide 2D and 3D computer aided drafting (CAD) support with programs like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and SolidEdge.
  • Utilize knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance and professional development to ensure OR air distribution designs meet safety and accreditation standards.
  • Draw upon deep understanding of air distribution systems from hands-on experience in design, manufacturing, and installation processes to optimize airflow layouts for hybrid and traditional operating rooms.
  • Use technical knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD modeling, Autodesk REVIT and Visual Lighting photometric analysis and sheet metal design to create prototypes and sample models to identify issues and redefine designs before full-scale production, bridging the gap between design engineering and production.

Benefits

  • Salary $71,947 to $75,000 per year.
