The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) provides exceptional customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff while supporting positive patient experience in a fast-paced clinical environment. This role performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties to ensure efficient operational flow within the department. The HUC supports their assigned unit that specializes in patients with Cardiovascular conditions. Responsibilities include communication coordination, patient record management, order processing, and supporting the interdisciplinary care team to promote safe, high-quality patient care. J73 is a 24-bed cardiovascular step-down unit with skilled nurses to provide high-acuity, specialized care to a diverse population of cardiac patients. From acute myocardial infarction and post-cardiac interventions to chronic heart failure and complex dysrhythmia management, this team plays a critical role in guiding patients through some of their most vulnerable moments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience in a customer service-related role
  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework

  • Microsoft Office experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
