About The Position

St. Joseph’s Health, a member of Trinity Health, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Nurse Manager, Cardiovascular Stepdown to lead a high-performing team in one of Central New York's premier cardiovascular programs. The Cardiovascular Stepdown unit is a specialized unit caring for patients admitted for interventional cardiac procedures, medical cardiology, vascular surgery, and the hospital's designated stroke program. The unit serves patients with a wide range of acute cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and medical conditions and provides advanced care including Class I telemetry monitoring and management of cardiac drips. This Nurse Manager role is responsible for the clinical, operational, financial, and strategic leadership of the department, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, quality, safety, and professional development.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State or eligible for licensure.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Progressive nursing leadership experience in an acute care setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage operations, improve quality outcomes, and support colleague development.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Previous leadership experience in cardiovascular, telemetry, cardiac stepdown, critical care, stroke, or vascular services.
  • Experience managing patient care teams in a complex acute care environment.
  • Specialty certification in cardiovascular nursing, stroke care, leadership, or a related specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for daily operations of the Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit.
  • Lead and support nursing colleagues in the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Drive operational effectiveness, patient outcomes, quality metrics, and colleague engagement.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, performance management, productivity, and resource allocation.
  • Foster a collaborative environment among nursing, physicians, rehabilitation services, cardiovascular teams, and ancillary departments.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, patient safety, and quality standards.
  • Analyze and leverage data to identify opportunities for process improvement and enhanced patient outcomes.
